Lakers’ LeBron James Reacts Wordlessly to Stunning Career Recap

Lakers’ LeBron James Reacts Wordlessly to Stunning Career Recap

Lakers star LeBron James, 39, is nearing the end of a legendary career, but he doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Last season alone, the L.A. star averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists and 7.3 rebounds in 71 games. Still, with just 22 years to go, even LeBron James can become speechless when faced with his own career accomplishments.

For example, Bleacher Report shared a stunning statistic from King James on X, formerly Twitter. The post stated, “LeBron has more 50-point games than single-digit games in his career (regular season).” Specifically, James has scored fewer than ten points in only ten games, while he has 14 50-point games. In fact, he has scored at least 10 points in 1,209 consecutive games, a streak that began in 2007.

In response, the King quoted the original Bleacher Report post and simply replied with about a dozen emojis.

Four-time NBA champion LeBron James is also the league’s all-time leading scorer. With 40,474 points (and counting), James broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s old record, which everyone once thought was unbreakable. What’s more, he is one of the few players to reach the NBA Finals eight times in a row, and is the only player to lead both Finals teams in all five statistical categories: points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.

James, along with Kyrie Irving, also led arguably the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history. Of the 33 teams that had fallen 3-1 in the Finals, LeBron’s Cleveland Cavaliers rallied from 3-1 down to upset the Golden State Warriors and win the 2016 championship. Even more impressive, the Warriors had a historic 73-9 season, an all-time NBA record.

The King also recently won Olympic MVP honors following Team USA’s victorious campaign at the 2024 Paris Games. Longevity aside, LeBron James’ sheer productivity at age 39 means he could still be playing for a fifth NBA championship, even while playing with his son Bronny, who the Lakers drafted in 2024.

Will the Lakers still be able to compete?

Still, the Lakers have yet to inspire confidence in fans that they can actually compete for a title. Since their 2020 championship, the Lakers have been on a downward spiral that reached its nadir in 2022, when they gutted the team to trade for Russell Westbrook and restock the roster with a minimal number of veteran players who have already made the ascension.

While the Lakers have somewhat recovered from the Westbrook disaster, they have already lost their rivals in the Western Conference. If they manage to beat the Denver Nuggets, they will still have to face the Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Lakers are still a good team, but they have too many flaws — defense, rebounding — to be a contender this season. Still, fans can hope that first-year coach JJ Redick can build a winning culture on the team, even after James retires from the Lakers. Although, who knows, Pat Riley won a ring in his first year as head coach of the Purple and Gold.
