Jacksonville Jaguars Announce 2024 Captains

The Jacksonville Jaguars have their leaders in the locker room.

The Jaguars announced their five team captains for the 2024 season on Tuesday. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence and center Evan Engram are the offensive captains, Josh Hines-Allen and Foyesade Oluokun are the defensive captains, and Logan Cooke is the special teams captain.

Lawrence is in his fourth year as team captain for the Jaguars; Oluokun is in his third year as team captain for the Jaguars; Hines-Allen is in his fourth year as team captain for the Jaguars; Engram is in his first year as team captain for the Jaguars; and Cooke is in his second year as team captain for the Jaguars.

The Jaguars’ on-field leadership has been a hot topic this offseason. Last year, the locker room failed to come together and finish the job at the end. This year, the Jaguars have been open about the failures of the 2023 season and how they know they can’t take anything for granted.

Lawrence, who signed a long-term contract in the offseason, has been named captain in each year of his career.

“I would say he definitely has an outgoing personality, but he also has a sly kind of humor to him. He’s likeable. He’s likable. He’s also someone who can tell you straight, which I appreciate about him,” Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said Monday.

“The second thing is his demeanor. He’s just a calm, composed, collected person. There’s not a lot about him that would make him mad, and there’s probably a lot about him that wouldn’t necessarily make him mad. Just the calmness that he has, he’s got a great balance to him, but he also has this sly humor that comes out from time to time with his teammates.”

Hines-Allen served as captain in 2020, 2021 and 2022 and will now serve as captain for a fourth time.

“No, I mean, I know the captains, they usually meet a little earlier, so I would have to get up a little earlier if I was the captain. I would just have to change my routine a little bit if I was the captain,” Hines-Allen said Monday. “I don’t know, but whoever gets picked has done a really great job so far, both in training camp and OTAs, and I can’t wait to see what those five look like.”
