Investigation underway following the death of man on fire at Port Charlotte Town Center Mall

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (WWSB) – An investigation is underway after a man on fire died in the parking lot of the Port Charlotte Town Center Mall.

Just after noon on Tuesday, Charlotte County Fire & EMS responded to a call for a man on fire at the Mall.

CCSO arrived on the scene first and confirmed a patient with burns.

Unfortunately, the patient, who had burns over his entire body, went into cardiac arrest as the medical helicopter was landing, and the decision was made to transport him by ambulance.

Charlotte County Fire & EMS Fire Marshal Scott Morris responded to investigate the fire. The State Fire Marshal and CCSO major crimes unit are on the scene investigating.
