IMPD officer arrested on child molestation charges

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis police officer has been arrested after being accused of repeatedly molesting children.

Online jail records show Kamal Bola, an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officer, was arrested late Tuesday evening in Hendricks County.

It is unclear what led to Bola’s arrest. He has been charged with three counts of molesting children under 14 and one count of public voyeurism.

This is the second IMPD officer this year to be charged with sexual offences against children.

Sergeant Javed Richards was arrested in mid-August on 12 counts of possession of child pornography. He is accused of sending more than 40 files containing child sexual abuse material via Kik in July.

Richards’ next court date is Sept. 10, with a jury trial scheduled for Oct. 21. If convicted, he could spend 28 to 156 years in prison.
