Duke basketball recruiters return to California

Duke basketball recruiters return to California

At least a dozen programs will be at Eleanor Roosevelt High School (Calif.) this week to check in on senior point guard Brayden Burries. Duke basketball is among those expected to attend, Top HS recruits announced on Monday, along with Kentucky, Alabama, Louisville, Kansas, Arizona, Tennessee, UConn, UCLA, Oregon, SMU and Southern Cal.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound five-star whose solid base and silky game are reminiscent of 2023-24 Duke basketball point guard and Californian Jared McCain, Burries is ranked No. 14 overall, No. 3 among combo point guards and No. 2 in California in the 247Sports 2025 Composite. He has a July 2023 offer from Blue Devil coach Jon Scheyer two months before heading to Durham for an unofficial visit.

“I’m just a complete basketball player,” Burries told ZAGSBLOG’s Sam Lance in June. “I can do it all: defend, rebound, shoot, drive, make plays.”

As it stands, Brayden Burries has not announced any official visits for his senior year. Perhaps this week’s visit from the Blue Devils will convince him to return to Duke at some point during the 2024-25 season.

Burries boasts more than two dozen offers and has not yet revealed any finalists. He also expressed no rush to choose a winner in his recruitment.
