Have a question about the Texans?
Life in general?
Drew Dougherty is your man.
He’s been with the Texans since 2009 and has a ton of both meaningful and generally useless information. Fire up by clicking
HERE.

Mathias Kirud: Dear Drew, will Will Anderson be ready for Week 1?
DD: The Texans defensive end has not played in the preseason, and when asked Sunday about his likelihood of being named the 2023 Defensive Rookie of the Year, head coach DeMeco Ryans didn’t provide many details.

“We’ll see where we go in the week,” Ryans said. “We feel good about all our guys. Ready to go this year.”

Ultimately, we will have much better data once the injury report is released on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. EST.

Darin Pittman: Dear Drew, with Denico Autry out, will the running backs be able to stop Colts quarterback Jonathan Taylor?
DD: The 2021 All-Pro had his best game of the season in a Week 18 loss to the Texans. Indianapolis fed him as Taylor ran 30 times for 188 yards and a touchdown, the score coming on a 49-yard run early in the third quarter.

This Sunday, Houston’s Front-7 lineup is different than it was in January. The lineup features three newcomers: Danielle Hunter, quarterback Foley Fatukasi and Mario Edwards Jr. Additionally, Azeez Al-Shaair is a middle linebacker.

“It takes more than one guy to bring him down,” Ryans said. “He’s really good at breaking up tackles, he’s physical, he’s uphill. He runs the ball, he plays the right way.”

It remains to be seen how much better Houston’s run defense is, but Taylor has torched the Texans in six career games. He averaged 5.96 yards per rush, scored seven touchdowns and caught eight, and the Colts won or tied all but the last one.
