Dāvis Bertāns may head to Bay Area.

NBA expert Marc Stein reported that the 31-year-old was “invited” to train with the Golden State Warriors in order to receive an invitation to training camp.

Dāvis Bertāns has been invited to work out for the Warriors, while Golden State is considering whether to extend the Latvian shooting guard’s training camp invitation, league sources said. @TheSteinLine.

Rudy Gay received an invite to Warriors training camp last season after similar auditions.

Bertāns split the 2023-24 season between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Charlotte Hornets. In 43 games in 2023-24, he averaged 6.7 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.8 assists, including one start.

He could potentially slot into a reserve role on a Warriors team that will redesign itself in 2024-25, with Klay Thompson leaving for the Dallas Mavericks as a free agent and former All-Star Chris Paul also moving to the San Antonio Spurs.

The most notable addition was Buddy Hield, who should slot into a core around Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga as the Warriors went 46-36 and lost in the 2023-24 play-in tournament.

Bertāns would bring 45 games of playoff experience to the team and could be a cheap asset for a team weighed down by the cap. But he’s not a game-changer and is also running out of chances to play a role in the NBA.
