Tottenham set to sign ‘world class’ free agent to replace Dominic Solanke

Tottenham set to sign ‘world class’ free agent to replace Dominic Solanke

Tottenham Hotspur lost 2-1 to Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday.

Despite having possession, the North Londoners failed to capitalise on their chances as Heung-min Son did not have his best game at the forefront.

Tottenham have lacked effectiveness in the absence of Dominic Solanke, who has been sidelined through injury, and the club should consider tapping the free agent market to bolster their attacking line.

In fact, there is a top-class striker available…

Tottenham should sign Memphis Depay

The transfer window closed on August 30, but clubs can still sign players from the free agent market.

Tottenham should therefore seriously consider signing Memphis Depay, who is out of contract after leaving Atletico Madrid in July.

It’s already clear that Postecoglou’s team lacks depth up front, and Memphis’ versatility would certainly help them.

The Dutch international, who has 98 caps for his country, can play as a centre-forward, on either wing or even as a number 10.

Memphis Depay Stats

Last season, Memphis featured in 31 games for Diego Simeone’s Atleti, scoring nine goals and providing two assists.

The 30-year-old has scored 172 goals during his career, so it is clear that if Tottenham were to decide to sign him, he would certainly improve the team’s performance, which has cost them dearly this season.

Memphis, who has been described as a “world-class” player by GOAL, is currently in talks to join Sevilla so the club will need to act quickly to avoid losing out on his signature.
