The Seattle Seahawks enter the 2024 NFL season with high hopes of returning to form after narrowly missing the NFL playoffs last season while NFC West rivals San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams advanced to the postseason.

In addition to missing out on the playoffs after a promising 2022 season last year, the Seahawks also lost longtime coach Pete Carroll to a different position with the team, a drastic change, to say the least.

Now, the Seahawks have turned to 37-year-old Mike Macdonald to be their new head coach, while keeping veteran quarterback Geno Smith in the spotlight for the upcoming season.

As expected, Smith will be the starting quarterback for the Seahawks in Week 1 when they host the Denver Broncos at Lumen Field.

During the offseason, the Seahawks traded with the Washington Commanders to acquire quarterback Sam Howell, who will likely be Smith’s backup.

The Seahawks have now added to their quarterback roster by signing former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Jaren Hall to the practice squad, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

With the Seahawks relying on Smith and Howell, who are two pretty good options at quarterback, the team needs some security, which is likely the reason they signed Hall.

It will be interesting to see how Smith does this upcoming season as Seattle tries to right itself as it enters the post-Carroll era.
