Seahawks to start season in retro uniforms

Seahawks to start season in retro uniforms

On Monday, the team announced that the Seahawks will wear their classic uniforms in their season opener against the Broncos at Lumen Field on Sunday.

These retrospectives show how important the 1990s were not only for the organization but also for the city of Seattle.

The Seahawks wore these uniforms in their inaugural 1976 season through the end of the 2001 season. The uniform combination includes the classic silver helmet, royal blue and apple green jerseys, and silver pants.

The throwbacks made their debut last season in a Week 8 victory over the Browns at Lumen Field. The Seahawks cruised to a victory over the Browns thanks to a late touchdown run by Jaxon Smith-Njigba that gave Seattle a 24-20 lead.

The Seahawks also wore them in an away game against the Cowboys last season.

The season opener will be the first of two games this year in which the Seahawks will wear their classic uniforms. They will wear them again when Seattle hosts the division rival 49ers in a Thursday night game in Week 6 at Lumen Field.
