Jedrick Wills, Dustin Hopkins Still Out as Cowboys Get Closer

As the Cleveland Browns prepare to face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, several starters were absent from practice on Monday, including left quarterback Jedrick Wills and kicker Dustin Hopkins.

Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot reported that in addition to Wills and Hopkins, the following Browns players will not practice on Monday: wide receiver David Bell and defensive end Shelby Harris.

As Wills continues to recover from knee surgery, Jack Conklin will likely need to do some practice at left quarterback in preparation for Week 1’s game against Dallas.

Although Hopkins did not practice today, Kevin Stefanski mentioned that he “will be fine,” according to ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi. Hopkins has been active in the preseason and remains the only kicker on the roster or practice squad at this time, so it’s expected that he will play until further notice.

In other good news, Cay Kabot added defensive end Quinton Jefferson, and linebacker Nathaniel Watson returned to practice Monday. Jefferson signed a one-year contract with the Browns in free agency and is expected to be the starting three-technique alongside Dalvin Tomlinson.
