Dolphins ready to ‘make memories’ as start of NFL season approaches

The NFL season begins this week, and the Miami Dolphins took to the field on Monday to practice in preparation for their matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The roster is set and the pre-season is over. The players are ready to take to the pitch at Hard Rock Stadium and get this season underway.

“Every year is another opportunity to win games and make memories,” Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill said. “(We have) a great group of guys. … This is our best team since (I) have been here, so it was a time to be alive.”

Mike McDaniel will look to make another playoff appearance in his third season as head coach, after extension of the contract which will allow him to stay at the helm of the Dolphins until 2028.

“I think it’s just another reason to give it my all every day,” McDaniel said. “Probably just more reason to do what I’ve been meaning to do since I got here.”

Coaches and players are focused on the Jaguars and want to go 1-0.

“It’s about patience. It’s about making the plays that come to you when your number is called,” Dolphins linebacker Alec Ingold said. “I think that’s going to be the most exciting thing about this year, watching so many different, talented guys come on the scene at different times.”

On Monday, the Dolphins also announced that this year’s team captains will be quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, wide receiver Tyreek Hill, middle linebacker Alex Ingold, quarterback Terron Armstead, middle linebacker Zach Sieler, middle linebacker David Long, middle linebacker Jalen Ramsey and defensive lineman Calais Campbell.

The match starts on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
