Class of 2026 power forward Alex Smith commits to Ohio State

Alex Smithan Ohio native and power forward out of the 2026 class, has committed to Ohio State. He made the announcement on his X.com page.

Smith — the 6-foot-8, 195-pound forward from Upper Arlington (OH) and the Midwest BC Adidas 3SSB AAU program — is now the Buckeye’s second commitment in 2026. He joins top-30 guard Marcus Johnson. “I would like to thank coach (Jake) Diebler and the OSU staff for believing in me,” Smith said in his announcement post. “Go Bucks!” Ohio State is about 15 minutes away from Smith’s high school. He will have a chance to be the hometown hero. “Everything just kind of clicked,” Smith said to the Columbus Dispatch. “When I would think about recruiting, I would think about Ohio State. I realized this is where I wanted to play, so I saw no reason to wait.” Johnson committed after his unofficial visit this past weekend.
