Baltimore Orioles Shortstop Did Something That Hadn’t Been Done in 20 Years

On Monday afternoon, the Baltimore Orioles picked up a much-needed victory over the Chicago White Sox, winning 13-3.

Currently sitting first in the AL East, the Orioles have a great opportunity to overtake the New York Yankees in the coming days, with two more games to play against the White Sox in this series.

Baltimore’s victory on Monday marked a historic event.

According to the team, it was the first time since 2017 that every member of the squad had a goal and a point.

If their batsmen can do well over the next month, they will be in a favourable position going forward.

But on Monday, an even more important achievement occurred.

Gunnar Henderson, the club’s young star shortstop, hit his 34th home run this season.

Henderson became the first player in 20 years to accomplish the feat. Only two other shortstops in Baltimore history have hit as many home runs in a season: Cal Ripken did it in 1991, and Miguel Tejada hit 34 home runs in 2004.

With about a month left in the regular season, Henderson appears poised to break the record.

The 23-year-old has slowed down a bit since the start of the season, but is still a top-five player in the American League.

He is slashing .276/.363/.527 with 24 doubles, 80 RBI and an OPS+ of 155.

If he gets going in the next four weeks, there’s a chance he’ll reach 40. That’ll be tough to do, but don’t count this left-handed hitter out.
