2026 Class of 2026 Alex Smith Commits to Ohio State

Smith — a 6-foot-8, 195-pound wing from Upper Arlington (OH) and the Midwest BC Adidas 3SSB AAU program — is now the Buckeye’s second 2026 commitment. He joins top-30 point guard Marcus Johnson. “I want to thank coach (Jake) Diebler and the OSU staff for believing in me,” Smith said in his announcement. “Go Bucks!” Ohio State is about 15 minutes from Smith’s high school. He’ll have a chance to be a hometown hero. “Everything just clicked,” Smith told the Columbus Dispatch. “When I was thinking about recruiting, I was thinking about Ohio State. I realized that’s where I wanted to play, so I didn’t see any reason to wait.” Johnson committed after his unofficial visit last weekend.
