Packers coach Matt LaFleur ‘absolutely’ confident in rookie Brayden Narveson

Packers coach Matt LaFleur ‘absolutely’ confident in rookie Brayden Narveson

LaFleur was a consistent support for Carlson last season, sticking with the rookie as he struggled. But this offseason, the Packers looked to push the young kicker by bringing in Joseph and a series of other legs.

At this point, it’s unclear how Narveson will respond in game action, especially against Green Bay in December. However, the NC State commit showed off his skills in the preseason at Tennessee, connecting on six of his seven field goal attempts, including a 59-yarder that clinched the game-winning kick.

Narveson said he expected to return to the Titans practice squad but is excited about the chance to play in Green Bay.

“I prepared, I got the opportunities in the games, I executed them,” he said. “That gave me the chance to come here and I’m ecstatic. I’m happy to be here and I’m going to keep developing because I don’t want to stop here and not feel like I’ve arrived.”

The rookie will have a chance to show off his big leg from Brazil when the Packers open their 2024 season against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday night in São Paulo.
